Valedictorian Dinner

Mariposa County High School awards Valedictorian status to multiple students each school year. To qualify, students must take the most rigorous courses available at MCHS as determined by the classes offered upon entry as freshmen. Their course load must include four years of math (through pre-calculus), four years of science with three being lab sciences, three years of the same foreign language, Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature and AP English Language, and all Honors and AP classes available to the student. Valedictorian students must earn a “B” or higher in all classes.”

To recognize the achievements of these amazing students, ABC sponsors a valedictorian dinner at the end of each school year.

The valedictorians each invite two family members and someone they consider their mentor to this very special event. The evening includes a guest speaker, often an MCHS graduate. In addition, each student’s mentor says a few words about the valedictorian, and each valedictorian also says a few words about their journey to this point and what they hope to achieve going forward.

ABC gives each valedictorian a $50 gift card to help with college supply purchases. MCHS gives each student a beautiful medallion. The past few years, Sierra Tel has given each valedictorian a beautiful, personalized portfolio that will be useful for future job interviews and meetings.

Earning the title of Valedictorian is quite a feat. Congratulations to MCHS Valedictorians on this superb academic achievement. We wish them all the best in their academic and life journeys.

ABC encourages all underclassmen and future Grizzlies to support each other as they challenge themselves academically and reach for the stars!

Given the Covid-19 pandemic, ABC was unable to host the dinner in person for the class of 2019-2020. Instead, each valedictorian received a package from ABC containing a gift card to Savourys Restaurant, a Visa gift card, commemorative booklets, and cards of congratulations. Thanks very much to Sierra Tel for its generous donation that helped make these gifts possible and to Sierra Sisters Designs for the booklet and card design.
